Jason Thibodeaux is the WC High School Director of Orchestras.
While under the direction of Mr. Thibodeaux, the Churchill Orchestras have won numerous UIL Concert and Sightreading Sweepstakes. Mr. Thibodeaux has conducted the Churchill Orchestra at the Pearl Harbor Memorial in Hawaii, Carnegie Hall in New York City (2008 and 2020), Austria Tours of 2010, 2018, 2022 and 2026, and the Italy Tour of 2014. In January of 2011, the Churchill Symphony performed for the Lila Cockrell Theatre Rededication Ceremony. In 2023, the orchestra was selected and performed for the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. Mr. Thibodeaux graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in music education. His professional affiliations include memberships in the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicator’s Association, Mu Omicron and Texas Orchestra Director’s Association. |
He is a Past President of the T.O.D.A. Executive Committee. In 2020, Mr. Thibodeaux was named Director of Distinction by the Texas Orchestra Directors Association.
He is an active U.I.L. Adjudicator and T.M.E.A. Region Clinician/Conductor. Currently, Mr. Thibodeaux is the YOSA Intermezzo Strings Conductor.

Cristal Martínez Pérez recently completed her first year at WC High School as Assistant Orchestra Director.
Born in Austin, Texas, Ms. Martínez earned her Bachelor of Music Studies degree from Texas State University in 2025. Outside the classroom, she enjoys hiking and performing chamber music whenever possible.
Working alongside Mr. Thibodeaux, Ms. Martínez helps conduct and support all WC Orchestra students during concerts, performances, and state competitions. Her dedication to music education and student success has made her an invaluable member of the WC Fine Arts program.
In the spring of 2026, Ms. Martínez accompanied the WC Orchestra on its performance tour of Austria, helping students gain a memorable international musical experience while representing the program abroad.
